Shared Parking Management

Where several companies share the same car parking facility and it is necessary to individually control access by the staff of each company to ensure that it stays within its parking space quota, Nortech’s NCT200 counter module can be combined with Nortech’s CRC200 access controllers to provide a reliable and cost-effective solution. The diagram shows a system for four companies sharing the same car park. ![]() Each time a pass card from a particular company (we shall refer to it as “company A”) is presented to the entry reader, the associated access controller identifies the pass card, sends an open signal to the barrier, and decrements counter A. The other access controllers ignore the pass card. Each time a pass card from company A is presented to the exit reader, the associated access controller identifies the pass card, sends an open signal to the barrier, and increments counter A. The other access controllers ignore the pass card. When the counter for company A reaches zero (indicating that all company A assigned spaces have been taken up), the entry part of the controller for company A is disarmed, preventing further company A staff from entering the car park at this time. This will not affect staff from other companies. Once one pass card from company A is presented to the exit reader, the count value for company A increases to one (indicating that the spaces occupied by company A staff are below quota), and the entry part of the controller for company A is rearmed. Although the access controller and counter for each company operate completely independently from the others, they share the same card readers and control the same barrier. Each NCT200 counter module can handle up to 4 counters. Each CRC200 access controller can handle one company for both entry and exit. A proximity card reader can be simultaneously connected to many access controllers (at least as many as would be necessary for this type of application).
